Title: Picture help on listings
Post by: fredzebaker on December 17, 2011, 08:32 pm
Hi,

I just listed my first item on SR and I added a picture but it has not auto cropped. it seems its too big for the window.
I look at other peoples listings and there pictures are fine.
What am I doing wrong ?

Can any1 give me advise on this ?

thx in advance.

The easiest way of handling it is to re-size and crop it to 400 x 300 pixels before uploading it.

The default image handler currently re-sizes your image to 400 px wide, and then centers it horizontally and crops it to 300 px high. If you get lucky, it doesn't turn out too bad, but if you have a tall portrait image - like say every picture of cannabis I had to upload, it looks like shit.

I've got over 200 images, and I sized and cropped all mine in good old windows paint.

And hey - what did you list up?

Hmm, don't know what the problem is there.

Tell you what to do.

Go to the Onion Image Uploader at:
http://xfq5l5p4g3eyrct7.onion/

Upload your original picture, and it will give you a link to it.

Post that link here, and I'll fix that picture up so it's the way you want it. I'll post the fixed image up on the same site, and post the link to it back here for you.

Then download the fixed image and use that.

Easy, peasy, lemon squeezy!  8)

EDIT: If you already have the picture sized perfectly at 400 x 300, but after you upload it the old one still shows up, then what you need to do is rename it before you upload it, else the system may end up using your old one instead of the new one.
